Windows are designed with planned obsolescence in mind. Manufacturers design these windows with a life cycle of 10 to 15 years so that they can replace your windows after the warranty is over. Once this time period has passed, window fogging often occurs.
We can extend the lifetime of these windows indefinitely by allowing them to breath.
Here is how our window defogging procedure works:
1) Our trained technicians drill tiny holes in your windows, ¾ of an inch off the corner edge of the frame allowing us to get to the air between the panes of glass. The air pressure is relieved and we can install our drying system.
2) Using compressed air and a three stage desiccant filter drying system, we push air through the window for about an hour to dry out any moisture inside the cavity.
3) We then install one way valves allowing the window to breath in a ‘controlled seal failure’ situation. Moist air will be allowed to leave the window cavity through these one way valves during a positive pressure situations.
Because the valve is away from the edge of the frame, it will breath air as opposed to allowing moisture to seep in through the seals at the bottom of the frame. The valve will be installed in the corner where there won’t be any noticeable obstruction to your view.
Preventative Measures:
Its important to be aware of the long term problems caused by foggy windows. If condensation is left untreated for too long, permanent etchings will form from the moisture, which often look like white, milky streaks. Once the streaks leave stains on the inside of the glass, we won’t be able to clean them off.
